The University of the Philippines Los Baños is a public research university located southeast of Manila. The University traces its roots to the UP College of Agriculture (UPCA), which was founded in 1909 by the American colonial government to promote agricultural education and research in the Philippines.

School of Environmental Science and Management (SESAM)

SESAM was named a Commission on Higher Education Center of Excellence (COE) for 2015-2018. The School publishes the Journal of Environmental Science and Management (JESAM), a Web of Science- and Elsevier-Scopus-indexed journal. It has laboratories for Landscape Ecology, GIS and Simulation, Human Dimensions, Ecosystems Service and Policy, Environmental Analysis, and Earth Systems Research. It also hosts the Climate Risk Studies Center.
